Strictly limited to 7 people.

Dates: [Arrive in Palermo on/by Monday 21st September 2025]

Tour: Tuesday 22nd September to Sunday 27th inclusive [6 days] Depart from Palermo

Sicily: Italy's largest island and a Mediterranean gem rich in history, culture, and natural beauty. Distance makes it tricky to see it all in one visit, but this trip aims to showcase places not visited on the original Deluxe Sicily tour and is based on staying in Palermo throughout [i.e. for the hotel, not for visits!].

Our tour includes: Erice, mentioned in Virgil's Aeneid, one of Sicily's most beautiful towns, 750ft above sea level, famed for its Spanish quarter, castles, churches, and baroque palazzi; the Salt Pans (the Saline) area which is the largest lagoon in Italy near Marsala and a designated marine nature reserve of some 2,000 hectares famous for its salt which has a higher concentration of potassium and magnesium than typical salt; travel by ferry to Mothya, a small island,  also home to Villa Whitaker's mosaics; Agrigento's 'Valley of the Temples', one of the finest ancient Greek sites anywhere in the world, founded  in 580 BCE;  Selinunte which faces Tunisia across the sea and was one of the most eminent cities of Magna Graecia.  We will explore Sicily’s second largest temple in Doric style, and several others dating from the 6th to the 4th centuries BCE, as well as a picturesque walk to the acropolis.

After, we will visit a local wine estate for  a guided walk through the vineyard followed by a tasting of white and red wines served with a full lunch. Sites in Palermo

will not duplicate last year's tour, but include a backstage tour of the famous Opera House, other art collections, and gastronomic tastings.

What's included: as always, all guiding, tips, museum etc. entrances, transportation between cities by minivan; one lunch comprising wine tasting; one farewell dinner.

What's not included: as always, flights and hotels - we can recommend - and other meals.
